I didn’t know it, but when I woke up this morning, Vukovi‘s new single ‘All That Candy‘ was the shot of caffeine directly to the brain I needed.
This is a band who are no strangers to injecting energy and immediacy into every second of every song they create, and their latest release continues that fine tradition.
Everywhere you look, you’ll find crunching guitars acting a robust base layer for the rest of the instrumentation. Combine that with some double bass pedal action (a rare thing in Vukovi‘s music) and you quickly realise that is perhaps the heaviest single the Scottish band have released to date.
The band’s February single, ‘C.L.A.U.D.I.A‘, was also a pretty hefty number. But where that song was taught, with pace and tension; ‘All That Candy‘ is just one massive wall of glorious in your face noise.
As with almost all Vukovi songs, however, the showstopper is of course singer Janine Shilstone’s epic vocal performance. She covers the entire spectrum from menacing to seductive to epic in the space of three minutes, further cementing her status as one of the finest singers in the pop punk scene.
‘All That Candy‘ is the first single from Vukovi‘s new album, Fall Better, which has just been announced with a release date of 24th of January 2020.
